How to cancel Audible (2026)
The app has no cancel button - here are the verified desktop steps, the credit trap, and a free script that gets you through.
✓ Verified July 2026 · independent guide
Where to cancel (website)
Use a desktop web browser: sign in at audible.com, click your name (top-right), open Account Details, then Cancel membership. Click Continue to cancel through each confirmation screen to the final page.
If you subscribed through an app or provider
The Audible mobile app has no cancel option by design. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store instead, cancel in iPhone Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions > Audible. Otherwise use the audible.com desktop site above.
Refund policy
Audible generally does not refund past membership fees, but any audiobooks you already own stay in your library forever. Spend every remaining credit before you cancel - unused credits are forfeited when the membership ends.
Watch out
The #1 trap: unused Audible credits are lost the moment your membership ends - buy audiobooks with them first. The app has no cancel button purely to add friction, so switch to a desktop browser.
Their retention trick
Audible offers to pause your membership for up to 3 months (once a year) or hands you free credits to stay. Decline both if you truly want out, and click Continue to cancel to the final confirmation.
Support phone line
If the website stalls, call
1-888-283-5051 and ask them to cancel and email written confirmation. Note the agent name, date, and a reference number.
Your rights (US)
Federal ROSCA and most state automatic-renewal laws require a simple way to cancel and clear billing terms. If a company blocks every path, dispute the charge with your card issuer under the Fair Credit Billing Act and file a free complaint at reportfraud.ftc.gov. (The FTC’s broader “Click to Cancel” rule was vacated in July 2025 and is being revisited — but ROSCA and state laws still apply now.)
